A kitchen faucet should be chosen in three dimensions. The front-view photo may look perfect, but daily comfort depends on where the spout sits, how far it reaches, and whether the handle has room to move.

Start with the sink dimensions
Measure the sink width, front-to-back depth, and basin depth. A wide or deep basin may need more faucet reach or height than a compact sink.
Understand overall faucet height
Overall height tells you how tall the fixture is from the mounting surface to its highest point. Check this against windowsills, shelves, or cabinets behind the sink.
Check spout height
Spout height is the clearance below the water outlet. Taller spouts create more working room for pots and large items, but they also need to be proportional to the sink depth.
Check spout reach
Spout reach determines where the water lands. The stream should fall comfortably into the working area of the basin rather than hugging the back wall or landing too close to the front edge.
Single bowl versus larger basin
A single bowl is generally easy to cover with a correctly centered faucet. With a particularly wide sink, confirm that the spout serves the full usable area comfortably.
Do not forget handle clearance
A faucet can fit through the countertop hole and still be frustrating if the handle hits the backsplash. Check the complete handle movement before drilling or ordering.
Think about splash
A very high water outlet over a shallow sink can create more splash. Balance height with basin depth and normal water flow.
Choose mounting location carefully
Confirm the number and placement of holes in the sink or countertop. If you are using a custom counter, determine the final faucet and sink position before drilling.
Choose the finish after fit
