The best coffee-table styling leaves enough empty space for the table to remain useful. Instead of filling every corner, create one or two intentional groupings and let the wood, shape, or inlay remain visible.

Begin with a tray
A tray creates a clear zone for smaller objects and makes it easier to reset the table after everyday use. Choose a tray that contrasts gently with the wood rather than covering most of the top.
Add a small stack of books
Two or three books create height and can act as a base for a small decorative object. Keep the stack proportionate to the table.
Use one sculptural object
A handmade wooden sculpture adds height and shape while staying within the same natural-material story.
Mix materials
Wood looks richer beside contrasting textures such as ceramic, stone, glass, linen, or aged metal. Avoid using too many different materials in one small grouping.
Vary the heights

Keep sight lines open
If the table sits between sofas or chairs, avoid very tall decor that blocks conversation or the view across the room.
